In the Field
Canadian Tire Grant
Through a grant provided by Jumpstart - Canadian Tire, we started a Learn to Skate program. We were granted $5000.00 to purchase skates, helmets, skating aids, and other materials. Despite being in the restrictive red zone in January, February and March, we were lucky enough to have a skating rink maintained by a community partner on the playground adjacent to our schoolyard. The program allowed us to take over 9 different classes from grades 2-6 (almost 200 students) skating, many of whom had never skated before. The students were able to use benches that they had hand-made themselves in a previous Industrial Arts workshop to sit on and change into their skates. It was a great way to see multiple projects and partners come together for a fun program for our students.

Nature Nerding!
Outdoor ed program was offered to all grades at both schools. The kids got outside for hands-on discovery-based learning in our nature centers around the schools. The 6-week program was a HUGE hit with the students and staff alike.
Funded by: Loisirs et Sports Monteregie and Butler supplemented the program through some Community Vitality funds as well. Both schools contributed $500 as well from their "Ecole Inspirante" funds.

Nature in Teaching
We have an outdoor classroom that is often used by several groups in our school. This year more than ever teachers have used nature during their teaching and have done a lot of learning projects outdoors… because they wanted the students to have more liberty.
